Flash 8 Sparkler Buttons

Another little experiment using alpha channeled FLV files for button rollovers. This has a sparkler and twinkle effect to it. You can change the blend mode of the video using the numeric stepper.

heh heh… this will really drive some of the web-fundamentalists crazy, especially if it gets picked up on a high-profile site…. ;-)

    (Pretty, though. 8)

Yes I agree that it will drive them nuts. But for game or kid’s sites, these kinds of things would work well. But Flash is about to go through another loud and obnoxious “skip intro” phase once Flash 8 is released. I figure that if I can get it all out of my system here then my professional work still has a chance to be clean :-)

    hihi very impressive really

do you know where i can download or get some video clips with alpha channels from the web?

i don’t have After Effects and i want to hv some of those clips to make those effects.

    any ideas?

say for example, do u make those sparkes and stuff urself or what?
and where exactly do u find the Matrix one?

Yes I made the sparkles in After Effects using the particular plugin. Then you can easily export with alpha information. For the Matrix clip I searched for “green screen” in Altavista video search. Then I had to remove the green in After Effects.

While I gave up stumping for QuickTime a long time ago, I cant help but comment on these new features in Flash. These have been available in Interactive QuickTime since version 5, and yet no one took advantage of them.. Pity, really.

That is true Luke, but the reason why its so hyped up with Flash is because for people who are working with Flash everyday to build websites and the like, they can now incorporate amazing video stuff right into their application. Yes you can incorporate quicktime into an HTML page, but it is very limited compared to what is capable with Flash.

    Agreed.
It’s gonna be pretty cool to see the creativity that comes about. There is the potential to lift communication with video to a much higher level than ever before.
