Adobe Brazil User Group Tour

I’m very happy to announce that I will be traveling to Brazil next month to do a user group tour! Brazil is one of the places that I have always wanted to visit and I’m excited that I’ll be able to come down and meet some of the great developers there. I’ll be doing four user group events and also a handful of customer visits but I will have some time to explore and check out the sights. The presentations will cover the entire Flash Platform including ColdFusion and I will try to make it as entertaining as I can.

One of the main reasons that I’ve wanted to go to Brazil is because of my love for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and MMA, which is known as Vale Tudo in Brazil. I trained for a couple of years at a couple of different Gracie schools (Ralph and Charles) here in California and some of my favorite MMA fighters are from Brazil. Currently they are Demian Maia, Minotauro Nogueira, and Wanderlei Silva. Maybe if I have time in Rio I can go over to Brazilian Top Team and have Nogueira slap an anaconda choke on me :) .

Currently the dates for the user groups are as follows:

  • Salvador Aug 16
  • Brasília Aug 18 (morning)
  • Rio de Janeiro Aug 18 (night)
  • São Paulo Aug 20

I will post more details once I get them. During my trip I will be giving away some software and may even setup a dead drop competition. I need to be careful though so I don’t end up on the next season of Locked Up Abroad.

Lol awesome timing! I think I’ll be in Sao Paulo at that date visiting family. Let me know if you need someone to tour you around the city. I’m a fan of the Jiu-Jitsu but just to watch at vale tudo fights, I still prefer Krav-Maga over it.

Hey Lee! Since you’re going to Brazil, why don’t you travel down south a little more and come here to Argentina? :)
Not only have I been waiting to enjoy your talks and learn from you… I also been wanting to play a dead drop for quite some time!

  3. July 14th, 2009 | 7:24 pm

    That’s really cool Lee.

Please post the venues for each city, so I can schedule one of them. Looking forward to more events like these ones.

    Kindly regards,

    Andre Villela

  6. July 14th, 2009 | 9:32 pm

i think being mugged up is more likely to happen than being locked up :P especially in rio and são paulo, one wrong corner and your screwed..

I agree with Pablo, you should come to Argentina!
Good luck in Brazil and have fun!

Ridiculous, when you say “I need to be careful though so I don’t end up on the next season of Locked Up Abroad.”

Man we are not terrorists. Come on, more respect with Brazil Nation.

  12. July 15th, 2009 | 6:15 am

Dead drop in Sao Paulo would be awesome, and also very hard hehe.
Or maybe a drowning after the presentation, that would also be cool.

Looking forward to hear from you in Sao Paulo.

@Matheus I have total respect for Brazil as I mentioned in my post. Locked Up Abroad is about people getting arrested in foreign countries while doing something illegal. It was just a joke :) .

    Lee,

Demian Maia is the man. I had a chance to attend a 2 day seminar with him near Toronto in March. He’s a great teacher and showed off a ton of cool techniques. If you ever get the chance I highly recommend attending one of his sessions.

Unfortunately, Florianopolis (capital of SC state) is out of Adobe Tour Brazil. I should like to know what happened, because Floripa was announced in June, but for now, we are out officialy.

We have some biggest IT companies of the world here and using Flex/AIR (http://www.totvs.com/home) … we have a lot of others big/medium/small companies (from various areas as medical, metalurgy, military, telecomunication, mobile, web in general) wanting to adopt the Flex, but we don’t have any support for this.

To be honest, is very hard mantain a good relationship. Sorry to outflow.
