I just uploaded a tutorial called The Drawing API which shows you how to create and draw MovieClips using nothing but Actionscript. The movie consists of two boxes with a line connecting them together. As you drag either of the boxes the line stays attached. The entire application is code and we don’t touch any tools, the timeline, or even the library. Check it out at http://www.gotoandlearn.com. Also see the finished example below.

A friend of a friend of mine swears that ASP.net is superior to PHP. To be honest I think they probably both are capable of the same things but I prefer PHP. As a joke I made this little animation which holds a rational debate on the subject

I just started production on my second title for Lynda.com entitled After Effects 7 New Features. It will cover all of the cool new features that will be a part of the next release. As you can tell I had to obscure my monitor due to the NDA contract I signed. But I just wanted to let you know that this release is incredible! Sorry to be such a tease

I’ve gotten a number of emails over the past few months from people who also train in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Actually at my academy it is known as Gracie Jiu-Jitsu. I’m just wondering how many other Flashers also train in it. Could this be a subculture within a subculture?

Over the past several months I have gotten perhaps 100 or so emails from people asking me what music I used in the “Inspiration I” video at gotoAndLearn(). So I thought it would be a good idea to blog it once and for all so that people who like it know where to find it. The track is from a band called VAST. The title of the song is called “Lady of Dreams” and is from their album entitled Music for People.

Did I get permission to use this music? No, but they way I look at it, I’m giving VAST alot more fans from having it on my site. Plus I’m not making any money from it.

I was excited to see that Cafe Press can now print on black T-shirts! So I went ahead and made a gotoAndLearn() t-shirt which reads “Where free actually means free!”. Click on the photo to check it out. I don’t expect anyone to actually buy one but it’s just cool for me to able to wear one
