My New Portable Green Screen!

I just recieved my new portable green screen from B&H Photo. It is actually reversible and is blue on the other side which is really nice. It collapses down to a nice size so it is good for travel and location stuff. Before using it I’ll have to just get the wrinkles out of it as having a smooth surface is extrememly important if you want to get a good key in After Effects. It is very reasonably priced at only $79.95. See a photo of it below. You can tell I’m pretty happy with it :-)

Cue Point Driven FLV Effects Browser

Here’s a little app I made which allows you to choose the effect and sound effect that you want displayed when a cue point is fired. All of the effects are external FLV files generated in After Effects.

Win a Car Using Flash 8!!

Holy crap! There is a Flash design contest over at http://www.scionf8.com/flash.html where the winner takes home a new car. I’ll have to try to make some time to enter something even if it’s not that good. I’d never be able to live myself if I didn’t at least give it a shot. Go check it out and start brainstorming!

FLV Cue Pointed Golf Swing

In this little experiment I have an external FLV of a man swinging a golf club. I embedded a cue point right at the moment of impact. I then use this cue point to make my little golf ball movieclip expand.

Flash 8 Filter Animation Tutorial

I just uploaded a new tutorial at gotoAndLearn() called “Flash 8 Filter Animation” which shows how to create and animate the new filter effects in Flash 8. The finished product from the tutorial is shown below. When you mouse over the orb it animates the glow filter. This tutorial will interest both designers and coders as I show how to apply filters using both the filter panel and through Actionscript. Flash 8 player required to see the video tutorial.

Mulitple FLV Files With Alpha

In this example the lady walks around and behind her there is video on the TV set. You can change the channel on the TV by clicking on the small circle button on the bottom left of the TV. This is very memory intensive and high bandwidth is required. In a few years this type of stuff will be nothing for our computers. Today it is pushing things a little.

FLV Cue Points Trigger Another FLV

I can’t stop playing with the new video features. Some people smoke. Some people drink. I sit around doing Flash video. In this example an external FLV has embedded cue points. When a cue point is fired, I play another external FLV that has an embedded alpha channel. I also position the explosion FLV based on information in the cue points.

There needs to be a 12-step program for this,
